1. Overview of Tam Hai Island

Located just off the coast of Quang Nam Province (now part of Da Nang Province), Tam Hai Island is a peaceful destination embraced by the East Sea. A short ferry ride brings visitors to this quiet island, where life moves at a leisurely pace and nature remains beautifully preserved.

One of the island’s greatest attractions is its unspoiled environment combined with the genuine hospitality of local residents. Visitors can stroll through coconut-lined paths, browse traditional markets selling fresh seafood and handmade products, or simply unwind on quiet beaches with soft white sand and clear blue water. With relatively few tourists, Tam Hai offers an ideal retreat for those seeking relaxation and authenticity.

2. Best Time to Visit Tam Hai Island

The ideal time to visit Tam Hai Island is from May to August, when sunny skies and calm seas create perfect conditions for sightseeing, swimming, boating, and other outdoor activities. The pleasant weather also makes island hopping and water sports much more enjoyable.

It is recommended to avoid traveling between November and December, as this period often brings storms and rough seas that may affect ferry services and make traveling to the island difficult or unsafe.

3. Must-Visit Attractions on Tam Hai Island

3.1. Tam Hai Mural Village

Tam Hai Mural Village is one of the island’s most distinctive attractions, featuring colorful murals painted throughout the community. Each artwork reflects local stories, traditions, and the daily lives of island residents.

3.2. Hon Mang, Hon Dua, and Hon Than Islets

These three picturesque islets showcase the natural diversity surrounding Tam Hai Island.

  • Hon Mang is famous for its beautiful beaches, transparent water, and excellent opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing by the sea.
  • Hon Dua stands out with its lush coconut forests and scenic landscapes, making it a wonderful destination for nature lovers.
  • Hon Than impresses visitors with its striking rock formations and unique coastal geology that create dramatic ocean views.

Together, these islets provide fantastic opportunities for sightseeing, photography, and outdoor adventures.

3.3. Ban Than Reef

Ban Than Reef is one of the island’s most spectacular natural landmarks. Its impressive black rock formations contrast beautifully with the surrounding turquoise sea, creating a breathtaking landscape unlike anywhere else.

Visitors can admire the fascinating textures and patterns carved into the rocks while enjoying the peaceful sound of waves and refreshing ocean breeze, making it an ideal location for photography and relaxation.

3.4. Whale Cemetery

The Whale Cemetery is an important cultural and spiritual site for the local fishing community. In Vietnamese coastal traditions, whales are regarded as sacred guardians that protect fishermen at sea.

Whenever a whale is found ashore or at sea, local people hold respectful burial ceremonies. Visiting this sacred place offers valuable insight into the island’s folklore, beliefs, and deep respect for nature.

3.5. Ancient Wells

Among Tam Hai Island’s historical treasures are its ancient freshwater wells, which have supplied clean water to local communities for generations despite being surrounded by seawater.
