All Vietnam COVID-19 Entry Restrictions Lifted

Vietnam is welcoming back international touristsAll additional COVID-19 restrictions have now been lifted.

Vietnam fully reopened to foreign visitors on March 15, 2022.

Eligible tourists can apply for a Vietnam eVisa online.

This article contains information for foreigners who wish to travel to Vietnam in 2022.

Vietnam Removes COVID-19 Requirements From May

All Vietnam’s travel restrictions were lifted on May 15, 2022.

Foreign visitors no longer need a negative COVID-19 test result, vaccination certificate, or Health Declaration Form.

Do I Need a PCR Test to Travel to Vietnam?

No, you no longer need a PCR test to travel to Vietnam.

From May 15, 2022, travelers can enter Vietnam without proof of a negative COVID-19 test result.

Previously, unvaccinated passengers needed to get tested to travel. Vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors can now enter Vietnam test-free, provided they are not displaying any COVID-19 symptoms.

Do I Need a COVID-19 Test Certificate for Vietnam?

No, you do not need to show a COVID-19 vaccination certificate to travel to Vietnam.

Coronavirus entry regulations have been lifted. You can visit Vietnam for non-essential purposes regardless of your vaccination status.

You must notify the health agency at the border if you show any COVID-19 symptoms on arrival in Vietnam.

Is There a COVID-19 Health Declaration for Vietnam?

You do not need to fill out a COVID-19 health declaration form for Vietnam.

Like PCR test and vaccine certificates, this document is no longer requested. 

Before the remaining entry restrictions for Vietnam were lifted on May 15, 2022, all passengers were required to fill out an online health declaration before departure. Contact details and health information were required.

What are Vietnam’s COVID-19 Quarantine Requirements?

In line with the 2022 travel updates, foreign visitors do not need to quarantine on arrival in Vietnam.

Plan a Trip to Vietnam in 2022: Restrictions and Requirements

COVID-19 restrictions have been removed and normal visa policy has resumed in Vietnam.

To travel to the country in 2022, you must have a  passport and, if required,  a visa. Online visa applications for Vietnam have reopened for eligible travelers.

Travelers must check that their passport is valid for at least 6 months. Some visitors also need to apply for a tourist visa.

Vietnam tourist visas are available online. It takes just a few minutes to apply, and travelers receive the approved e-visa by email.

International flights to Vietnam have restarted from various cities in the US and Asia, including Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Flights are operating from international airports including Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Phu Quoc, Da Nang, and Cam Ranh.

Vietnam travel restrictions from the U.S.

Some commercial flights are now available from the United States to Vietnam. Flights are operating from airports in the U.S. to Hanoi.

American tourists can now travel to Vietnam without a pre-departure test, regardless of vaccination status.

U.S. citizens require a visa for Vietnam. American passport holders are eligible for the tourist eVisa.

Travel and Tourism in Vietnam During COVID-19

Lockdown measures have been eased in Vietnam. Shops and restaurants are fully open and tourist attractions are operating as usual.

Face masks are required on public transport and some other enclosed spaces. Rules and restrictions in Vietnam are reviewed and updated regularly.

Vietnam UNESCO World Heritage Sites welcome tourists

Vietnam is opening UNESCO World Heritage Sites for tourism. Among these sites, travelers can visit Halong Bay and Hoi An.

Additionally, the town of Dalat and Nha Trang beach is welcoming visitors.

COVID-19 travel restrictions for Phu Quoc

The island of Phu Quoc was one of the first Vietnamese destinations to welcome back international travelers.

Phu Quoc reopened to vaccinated foreign tourists in November 2021. Phu Quoc is a popular tourist destination: it attracted around 670,000 visitors in 2019.

Tourists must meet regular entry requirements, which may include applying for a Vietnam tourist visa.

Vietnam Named as Best Country to Visit Post-Pandemic

The American magazine “Travel and Leisure” named Vietnam the first place to go once international travel resumes following COVID-19.

The U.S. publication highlighted Vietnam’s stunning landscapes as one reason to prioritize a trip to the Asian nation. Due to reduced footfall in recent months, Vietnam’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites and other natural wonders are likely even more beautiful.

In addition, “Travel and Leisure” magazine drew attention to the low cost of Vietnamese holidays to support their conclusion.
