Question: I have got a Vietnam visa approval letter granted by Vietnam Immigration Department. However, my passport number is wrongly noted on the approval letter, will I get trouble when entering Vietnam due to this wrong passport number?

Answer: Before submitting Vietnam visa application (either online or at Vietnam Embassy), Vietnam Visa applicants are advised to check all your personal information carefully to make sure that the information is as exactly as shown in your passport. Once there is any wrong information in the approval letter compared with your own passport, you will get trouble when checking in Vietnam. In the worst case, you are forced take flight back your country.

Therefore, when receive Vietnam visa approval letter, spend a couple of minutes double checking all noted information in the visa approval letter. Vietnam Visa exemption is granted to whom?

1. Citizens of Brunei for visits of 14 days at the maximum.

2. Citizens of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos for visits of 30 days at the maximum.

3. Citizens of Phillippines for visits of 21 days at the maximum.

4. Citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia and Finland for visits of 15 days at the maximum.

5. Citizens of France, Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports for visits of 90 days at the maximum or several visits of 6 months at the maximum.

6. APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies for visits of 60 days at the maximum.

7. For those who travel to Phu Quoc Island – Vietnam : Foreigners and Vietnamese nationals bearing foreign passports who enter Vietnam through an international border gate and then travel to Phu Quoc Island and stay in Phu Quoc less than 15 days will also be granted Vietnam visa exemption. Passports must be valid for at least 45 days. After arriving in Phu Quoc Island, if visitors want to travel to other localities or stay in the island for more than 15 days, the immigration department will be responsible for issuing visas right on the spot.

A Vietnamese Entry Visa is required for most foreigners. It allows Vietnam visa holders to enter and exit Vietnam at Hanoi, HCMC and Danang airports or at any of its twelve land borders, three each with Cambodia and China, and six with Laos.

1. Vietnam visa crossing the border from Laos

QUESTION

We are two backpackers hoping to enter Vietnam in two weeks time. We will not be stopping long enough in Bangkok or any other big cities to obtain a visa. Is there any other way we can obtain a tourist visa without doing this? We will be arriving from Cambodia and intend to spend about two weeks in Vietnam. We will be entering Laos from Vietnam and am also trying to find out if it is easy to get a visa crossing the border?
